May was a big month training wise. For our CrossFit programme, we saw some long high volume bodyweight workouts appear (in preparation for ‘Murph’), some heavy days, a sneaky Deadlift focus, and the continuation of the previous months development of overall capacity. A couple of higher skill elements were re-introduced to our WOD’s, including the bar muscle up and some tougher HSPU variations, and you can expect to see more strength and skill development in June. Overall the programme will maintain a balance between longer chipper style workout, heavy days, and sprint style workouts, but will a sprinkling of rings, inversion, and some challenging loading.
For Olympic lifting we have split days between Oly style WOD’s, Skill days, and focus days. Expect more of the same in June, as well as some fun complexes to have a go at. These will build upon the introduction of these regularly towards the second half of May.
For Gymnastics we start the month off with our Ring Muscle up Workshop, and after completing our current inversion cycle we are on to all things hanging. Think of Bar Muscle ups, Toes to Bar, and all of our pull up variations and you will be in the right place!
Sweat will feature some nice long chippers and EMOM’s as well as some split workouts, with a part a) that is quite unique compared to part b). We are constantly asking the body to adapt and grow with our sweat classes throughout June.
HYROX will have three main focuses for June. Building upon our ‘threshold pace’ and thus increasing the amount of time we can stay at that 8-9/10 effort. Some muscular endurance work, and some longer running intervals. Overall we want to build both aerobic capacity and muscular endurance in June.
Lastly Build will move into the 3rd phase of our unilateral cycle. You will start to see more isometric holds and tempo work in June.
June was a super fun month to programme for me, as each time you as members, display an increased capacity and skill level, I get to try to challenge that new found fitness and help you continue to grow and adapt. Your hard work allows us to take on even tougher and more unique challenges in class!
As always Love the Journey!!
